Good cover and book design will draw readers into your book and are the first step in your marketing strategy.
Cover Design: I work collaboratively with the author to design the cover to make it representative of the content and visually appealing to potential buyers. I typically use photos the author may provide, artwork, stock photos or graphics, depending on the need of the cover. Cover design will include the front, back and spine. Interior Design: The interior pages are also important to be visually appealing and easy for the eye to read. These pages may include photos (if you have them in the book), graphics, and/or ornaments, depending on the content of your book. I will provide the first ten pages to the author for approval of the overall design to insure we are in agreement. See my book design portfolio for some examples of interiors of books I've designed.
Preparation for Printing
Editing: Prior to having your book designed, you must take some steps to have it edited. You may, if you wish, begin with having a family member or friend read your book to determine if there are areas that need more work. After that, for a good quality book, you will need to hire a professional editor (friends and family don't have the skills or the objective eye of a professional). Upon request, I can recommend editors that I've worked with and that I am confident do a professional job of editing.
Print-On-Demand Services: Many clients prefer that I submit their book files to the various print services (such as local printers, KDP Select-Amazon, or IngramSpark). I am also also available to set up the accounts for the client.
Photo Optimization or Re-Touching: If you include photos in your book, they will generally need to be optimized for print and at times they will need to be re-touched. I use Photoshop to do my optimizations and re-touching. I have also restored photos for clients and offer that as a service as well.
Custom Art: You may commission a custom work of art or photography for your cover or interior. Click here to see my art portfolio for examples of art I've created.
eBooks: For those authors who wish to place their books on Kindle, Nook or other platforms, we can discuss the process of designing for that.
Book Website: Many authors like to have a website specifically for their book(s) for marketing purposes. I'm available to create a simple website upon request.
Facebook Page for Author's Books: I have assisted in creating Facebook pages for authors and offer this service as well.
